Since Rhode Island doesn't have its own Official State Plan, the workers are subjected to the administration of Federal OSHA. For training requirements of Rhode Islanders, OSHA suggests entry-level workers and workers with Supervisory roles enroll in OSHA 10 Hour courses and OSHA 30 Hour courses since the Outreach training will cover job-specific regulations required by most employers in Rhode Island.
Moreover, all construction workers employed for state or municipal contracts must complete OSHA 10 Hour Construction Training if the project sums up to a total expense of around $100,000 or more.
Though OSHA'S Hazardous Communication Standards are implemented on workers in Rhode Island, the State has its law as well: The Rhode Island Hazardous Substance Right to Know General Law (R.I. G.L. 28-21), according to which all employers, whether from private-sector or public sector, are required to guide their workers about the potential hazards of particular substance employed in their facilities.
