Massachusetts’s OSHA Training Requirements Every Worker Must Know

New Year Sale 2023

The employees working in the private sector are required OSHA training on particular health and safety topics, while the employees in the public sector are issued a list of necessary training topics according to the department by the DLS.

Most private employers in Massachusetts require their employees to get Outreach training for better work performance, even though OSHA does not mandate it. However, OSHA recommends OSHA 10 Hour courses for amateur workers and OSHA 30 Hour courses for Supervisors and Managers.

One group of Massachusetts workers lawfully required to get Outreach training are construction laborers commissioned for public projects worth more than $10,000. Moreover, state law mandates workers at those job sites to complete the OSHA 10 Hour Outreach Construction certification, although the 30 Hour construction certification can also serve the same purpose.

The obligations for hazardous communication training are divided between public and private workers. Workers in the public sector should comply with the training requirements under The Massachusetts Right to Know (RTK) Law to ensure that they get knowledge and training on particular chemical hazards in the workplace, while on the other hand, workers in the private sector must oblige OSHA Standards for HazCom.

Benefits Of OSHA Safety Training Courses For Workers In Massachusetts

Besides its goal to upgrade the knowledge of workers related to safety hazards, OSHA Outreach training also has several other benefits for workers, such as:

  • Medical compensation expenses are lowered.
  • Employees will be able to spot potential site safety hazards and prevent accidents.
  • Employees can save their workplaces from harsh fines from OSHA investigations.
