This training course was made in cooperation with the Transportation Safety Institute (TSI) of the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), and it covers Part 395 of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs): Hours of Service of Drivers. The training goes through the laws, the relevant terminology, the maximum driving time restrictions and their exceptions, when a driver may be put Out-of-Service (OOS), and the criteria for maintaining the Record of Duty Status (RODS). The training covers what the motor carrier, who is responsible for driver compliance, needs to know about maximum driving and RODS rules. Employees that are part of the motor carrier's safety director, dispatcher, human resources, or other roles may need to know the HOS rules. The materials covered in this course pertain to the rules that were current as of July 1, 2013.
