Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) arise when employees are physically unable of doing their tasks, which often occurs when they are not physically fit for the demands of their occupation. The United States has an estimated 1.8 million employees with work-related MSDs each year, including carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis, and back problems. As many as 600,000 MSDs are severe enough to cause employees to need time off to recuperate. The best answer to the problems of repetitive strain and workplace injury is to focus on ergonomics, which is the science of adapting the task to the person. This class may decrease the incidence of workplace MSDs that arise from exposure to occupational hazards.

This training is tailored to office employees and teaches them how to avoid repetitive stress illnesses like carpal tunnel syndrome. The primary subjects include the understanding of ergonomics, the risks found in the workplace, and how to minimize such risks in the office.
